ESTRO MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEACHING COURSE ON LUNG CANCER

Hosted by: Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, Department of Radiation Oncology, Guangdong Province Anticancer Association 
ESTRO education course is managed by ESTRO School of Radiotherapy and Oncology. Since 1985, the school has markedly increased the number of teaching courses and participants not only in Europe but also outside Europe. Especially in the last five years, several educational programs were expanded to Russia, China, India, Far East Asia, the Middle-East and Latin America. ESTRO is offering a growing range of basic and advanced teaching courses on radiobiology, physics, technologies, modern imaging modalities and management, including a great variety of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary courses, to cover the demand of harmonized training and continued medical education in Europe and beyond.

SYSUCC and the Radiotherapy Department, led by Pr Liu Meng Zhong with the precious help of Pr Cai Ling, hosted the ESTRO Course on November 28-30, 2014, during 3 days of intensive training on different fields of radiotherapy for lung cancer. 
The teachers from Europe (Belgium, Poland, Spain, Italy,  offered multidisciplinary courses on Radiotherapy, Neoadjuvant and Adjuvant Radiotherapy, Radio-chemotherapy, and so on, with 8 classes a day followed by clinical cases.
Around 300 students and staff of SYSUCC as well as more than 60 attendants coming from all around Asia came to participate and could enjoy the last technique reports on radiotherapy for lung cancer through interactive presentations in which everyone was able to answer and participate.
