On the morning of June 10, 2026, a delegation comprising experts from the Prince Felipe Research Centre (CIPF) in Spain and the University of Cambridge visited Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center (SYSUCC). The SYSUCC team, including Prof. Jinxin Bei, Deputy Director of the Department of Experimental Research, Prof. Jiang Yang, Dr. Shuang Liao, Director of the International Cooperation Office and Dr. Huiwen Zhai, warmly received the guests and facilitated a productive exchange.


Prof. Bei extended a warm welcome and guided the delegation on a tour of the research platforms and laboratories within the Department of Experimental Research, providing an overview of the department's facilities and ongoing work. Subsequently, Dr. Deborah J. Burks, Director of CIPF, introduced the center’s research landscape and strategic priorities, while Prof. María Jesus Vicent, Head of the Polymer Therapy Laboratory at CIPF, shared insights into her team’s work on polypeptide-based nanomedicines. The visiting delegation also included Prof. Antonio Vidal-Puig from the University of Cambridge, a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences (UK) specializing in molecular nutrition and metabolism.

Discussions centered on the development of high-level basic and clinical research platforms, mechanisms for integrating cancer basic research with clinical practice, and potential collaboration in areas such as talent cultivation, academic exchanges, and joint research initiatives. The meeting concluded with a friendly exchange of ideas on establishing long-term partnership mechanisms.
