A high-level delegation from the Cambodian Cancer Hospital visited Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center (SYSUCC) on May 27, 2026, with the aim of learning about SYSUCC’s clinical practices, advanced technologies, and hospital management models.
The delegation was led by Prof. Sou Syphanna, Director of the Cambodian Cancer Hospital and a specialist in Hepato-Gastro-Enterology, and included Prof. Touch Socheat (specialist in Oncology and Radiotherapy), Dr. Thay Mengkry (specialist in Dentistry), and Dr. Seap Bel (specialist in Gynecology), all Deputy Directors of the hospital, along with Prof. Sim Sokchan (specialist in Neurosurgery).
The visit began with a welcome session at SYSUCC, hosted by Dr. Shuang Liao, Director of the International Office at SYSUCC. Prof. Zhongguo Zhou from the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery first presented an overview of SYSUCC’s liver surgery department, highlighting its clinical expertise and advanced surgical approaches.
Following this, Prof. Touch Socheat shared an introduction to the Cambodian Cancer Hospital on behalf of the delegation, covering its current development, clinical services, and institutional background.
Dr. Wenmin Liao then presented on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) at SYSUCC, demonstrating how AI technologies are being integrated into oncology diagnosis and treatment.
The two sides also engaged in a discussion and Q&A session. The Cambodian delegation expressed sincere appreciation for SYSUCC’s remarkable achievements in clinical diagnosis and treatment, scientific research, and AI applications, and expressed their hope to learn from SYSUCC’s expertise in the future.
After the meeting, the delegation toured several clinical departments, including the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery.
This exchange reflects ongoing efforts to foster international collaboration and knowledge sharing in the field of oncology.
