On April 24, 2025, a four-member delegation from the Turkish Ministry of Health, led by Deputy Minister Mr. Suayip Birinci, visited Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center (SYSUCC). Prof. Sun Ying, Vice President of the center, represented the hospital in welcoming the delegation. Leaders and experts from both sides engaged in a productive exchange on topics such as clinical medical big data and artificial intelligence (AI) applications.

The Turkish delegation included Deputy Minister Mr. Suayip Birinci; Mr. Ozgur Sezer, General Manager of Health Information Systems; Mr. Hasan Basri Velioglu, General Manager of Health Services; and Mr. Mehmet Akif Albayrak, Advisor. Representing SYSUCC were Prof. Sun Ying, Vice President; Prof. Zhou Guanqun from the Radiotherapy Department; Dr. Zhang Cheng from the Imaging Department; Engineer Liao Wenmin from the Information Center; Ms. Ou Xiaofang, Director of the Comprehensive Supervision Office; Ms. Liao Shuang, Director of the International Cooperation Office; and Ms. Zhai Huiwen. Industry representatives from China’s medical digitization and AI application sectors also attended the meeting.
Prof. Sun Ying extended a warm welcome to the delegation, stating, “This marks the first international delegation to visit our center focusing on clinical medical big data and AI applications. It represents a significant step in integrating our medical and management efforts into global scientific and technological innovation collaborations. Our center prioritizes the research and application of cutting-edge technologies in medical big data and AI, incorporating these advancements into clinical practices such as cancer diagnosis and treatment planning. We have achieved remarkable progress in enhancing diagnostic accuracy and institutional efficiency, and we are honored to share our practical experiences with you.”

Following this, Engineer Liao Wenmin from the Information Technology Center presented an overview of the hospital’s informatization initiatives, while industry representatives showcased their related research and products. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on topics of mutual interest.

After the meeting, the delegation toured the Imaging Department and Radiotherapy Center, observing SYSUCC’s innovative practices in AI-driven clinical diagnostics and treatment firsthand.
