Profile

At the end of 2015, Dr. Liu joined the Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center as an Associate Professor under the "Hundred Talents Program" and was promoted to professor in 2022. Dr. Liu focused his research on bioinformatics study of protein post-translational modification and their functional mechanisms in cancer through data integration, computational prediction and analysis, and translational applications. He have led several funded projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Guangdong Province and Guangzhou City. As a leading author, he have published over 60 papers in academic journals such as Nature Communications, Gut, Nucleic Acids Research. In 2023 and 2024, I was consecutively listed in the "Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists Rankings Single-year”.

Interests

Bioinformatics of functional post-translational research; Big Data and AI in Cancer
1) develop computational methods and tools to predict the PTM-regulated alteration of protein compartmentalization such as subcellular localization and phase separation, dissect the aberrances, functions and mechanisms of PTMs in cancer and its progression and evolution.
2) develop the quality control strategy and data standards for integrating dynamic regulation data for critical PTMs such as phosphorylation, acetylation, etc., and constructed related databases for functional data of PTMs.
3) explore the treatment strategy and biomarker of targeting the PTM system, and then discovered biomarkers of cancer precision medicine.

Education

2008-2013: PhD in Bioinformatics, School of Life Sciences, University of Science and Technology of China
2004-2008: BSc in Life Science, School of Life Sciences, University of Science and Technology of China
