Professor Yang is serving as the Chief of the Department of Thoracic Surgery, SYSUCC. He is a surgical oncologist specializing in the surgical treatment of thoracic tumors, such as lung cancer, esophageal cancer, mediastinal tumors, and chest wall tumors. He had performed clinical research work and received training at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center between Jan 2014 and May 2015. Professor Yang has extensive experience in minimally invasive thoracic surgeries,  such as robotic thoracic surgeries, video assisted thoracic surgeries (VATS), and uiportal lung resections for non-small cell lung cancer. As one of the pioneered thoracic surgeons in China, he is also leading multiple RCTs in thoracic surgical oncology and doing translational research in lung cancer. His experience and efforts reflect his commitment to advancing thoracic oncology through evidence-based surgical innovation and precision treatment.
