Prof. Liu Donggeng specializes in clinical work of medical treatment for oncology (chemotherapy and targeted therapy) and research on anti-cancer drugs, medical treatment for and research on the medical treatment of breast cancer in particular.
She graduated from College of Pediatrics, Chongqing Medical University (CQMU) and was conferred upon a Bachelor’s Degree in 1982; worked at the Affiliated Hospital of North Sichuan Medical College between 1982 and 1986 and at Guangzhou Yucai Kindergarten between 1986 and 1988, and at the Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center from 1988.
From 1988 to 2001, she devoted herself into the clinical work of children’s cancer, published articles on pediatric solid tumors and lymphomas, participated in compiling the textbook Clinical Oncology and articles about pediatric cancers in the book Manual for Medical Diagnosis and Treatment of Cancers. She further studied pediatric stem cell transplantation in Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine in 1993, and got involved in preparing and establishing the Department of Bone Marrow Transplantation and the first case of bone marrow transplantation.
Prof. Liu Donggeng has conducted great numbers of drug clinical researches: Domestic carmofur and import carmofur. Later, she participated in the registered clinical trials including lentaron, letrozole, capecitabine, irinotecan and many other import drugs. Since 1998, she has been involved in medical GCP and formulating “Standard Operating Procedure for Clinical Research”, and also served as a former academic secretary of GCP and took part in the acceptance of GCP organized by the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China and in the teaching of GCP training classes held by the Ministry of Health. Currently, she is the primary researcher of international multi-center clinical research project on breast cancer, SYSU.
Since 2002, she has engaged herself in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer and attended a great number of international and domestic academic conferences on breast cancer. She became a member of the Committee of Breast Cancer, Guangdong Medical Association in 2007 and of the Committee of Breast Cancer, Chinese Anti-Cancer Association in October 2009. Since 2007, she has been serving as a member of China’s panel of the Chinese-version NCCN handbook about breast cancer.
