Dr. Ying Sun is a Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Sun Yat-Sen University Cancer Center (SYSUCC), Guangzhou, China. She has also been the Vice-President of SYSU Cancer Center since 2019. She is a renowned radiation oncology expert in China, specializing in individualized and precise treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). She is vice-chairman of the First Youth Council of the Chinese Anticancer Association, and the Professional Committee of Oncological Radiation Biology & Multimodal Diagnosis and Treatment at China's Research Institute. She is also the committee member of ASTRO. Dr. Sun’s primary research interests include artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted target volume delineation for radiotherapy of NPC, big data-driven risk stratification and individualized treatment of non-metastatic NPC, and transnational research focused on developing prognostic and predictive markers in patients with NPC. She has established a recommendation for a contouring method and atlas of organs at risk for NPC patients, which has been adopted by the international guidelines. She has also developed the first big-data intelligence platform for NPC research and AI tool for automated contouring of gross tumor volume for NPC on MRI. She has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers, including papers in renowned journals such as The Lancet Oncology, the European Journal of Cancer, Cancer, Radiology, Oncoimmunology, Int J Radiat Oncol Biol Phys, and Radiotherapy Oncology.
