SYSUCC Hosts Sino-EU Personalized Medicine Delegation for Collaborative Exchange

On April 18, 2024, the Delegation of Sino-EU Personalized Medicine visited Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center. Prof. Zeng Musheng, Vice-president of SYSUCC, along with experts from the Department of Medical Oncology, the IRB Office, and the International Office at SYSUCC, warmly welcomed the delegation and engaged in discussions on personalized medicine, related clinical trials, and ethical considerations.

The members of the Sino-EU Personalized Medicine delegation include Dr. Gianni D’Errico and Dr. Matteo Genili from the Fondazione Toscana Life Sciences, Dr. Anne Cambon-Thomsen from Centre national de la recherche scientifique, Dr. Anne-Marie Duguet from the University Toulouse, Dr. Carolin Lange and Dr. Sabine Puch from German Aerospace Center, Dr. Ruipeng Lei from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Dr. Ejner Moltzen from the Innovation Fund Denmark, Dr. Thomas Pattloch from Taylor Wessing, Dr. Holger Prokisch from Technical University of Munich, Dr. Nicola Stingelin from University of Basel, Dr. Ayo Wahlberg from the University of Copenhagen, Dr. Annie Xue from GEN Law Firm, and Dr. Joy Zhang from the University of Kenn.

The SYSUCC attendees include Prof. Zeng Musheng, Vice-president of SYSUCC; Prof. Shi Yanxia, Deputy Director of the Department of Medical Oncology; Dr. He Ye from the Department of Medical Oncology; Miss Pan Xuzhi from the IRB Office; Dr. Liao Shuang, Director of the International Office; and Dr. Zhai Huiwen from the International Office.



Prof. Zeng Musheng, on behalf of Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, extended a warm welcome to the delegation. "The exchange of knowledge, expertise, and innovative approaches between continents is vital in our collective fight against cancer. It is through such collaboration that we can make significant strides in improving patient outcomes and ultimately eradicating this disease," said Prof. Zeng. "I encourage us to seize this opportunity to foster meaningful communications."

Dr. Gianni D’Errico, on behalf of the visiting delegation, sincerely thanked Prof. Zeng for the warm reception and arrangements by SYSUCC.




During the visit, the delegation and SYSUCC experts exchanged expertise and knowledge on personalized medicine research, focusing on topics such as ethical considerations, cultural nuances, and societal implications. Discussions also included the approval process required by the Human Genetic Resource Management Office, obtaining informed consent from patients involved in clinical trials, personalized medicine research, international multicenter clinical trials in SYSUCC, and the sharing of clinical research data on international public data platforms.


Following the meeting, the delegation visited the Department of Medical Oncology.



The visit and exchange meeting aim to further strengthen the relationship between SYSUCC and European experts, fostering joint personalized medicine projects and collaborative efforts.
